Builders
GreenSmart® Training & Accreditation
HIA members can be accredited as a HIA GreenSmart® Professional by completing the HIA GreenSmart Professional accredited training course. The course is particularly suitable for builders and designers, but anyone with a passion to increase their knowledge in the area of sustainable housing will benefit from undertaking this course and network with other participants.
Master Builders Green Living Course
Accredited Master Builder Green Living builders will be able to market themselves as adopters of industry best practice in sustainability, help clients improve the energy and water efficiency of their homes, fully understand the energy provisions in the BCA and design and construct dwellings that go beyond the existing minimum requirements.
Electricians
EcoSmart Certification and Accreditation
Electricians who successfully complete all four of the EcoSmart Electricians training modules will be recognized and granted Energy Efficiency Certification. The training course is being registered on the NTIS.
As energy experts, electricians can play a major role in providing solutions to renewables and energy efficiency issues. The Global Green Electricians™ (GGE) accredited training course provides electrical workers with the skills and knowledge to cater for the uptake of renewables and the increased implementation of energy efficiency measures. Action on climate change will stimulate new green jobs, sure up existing jobs, trigger training investment and assist fuller employment of electrical workers.
Electrical and Communications Association
The course in Electrical Energy Efficiency 21876VIC is aimed at electrical workers and electrical engineers who wish to earn a national qualification in the deployment of electrical efficiency systems that apply to the current “Green Efficiency” programs supported by the federal government. This is a nationally recognised qualification.
Landscapers
Environmentally Certified Landscape Industry Professionals (ECLIPs)
SGA runs a well-established environmental certification program for garden centres that includes an external audit process. In 2007, SGA received funding from the Victorian Government's Sustainability Fund to establish a similar certification program for landscape professionals. SGA has worked closely with the Landscape Industries Association of Victoria (LIAV) and other industry professionals on its development. This industry sector includes landscape architects and designers, contractors, parks and gardens staff, and garden maintenance operators.
Waterwise Garden Irrigation Program (WGIP)
Waterwise Garden Irrigators endorsed under the program are qualified to install and schedule efficient garden watering systems to an industry standard. The Waterwise Garden Irrigation Program (WGIP) is a joint initiative of the WA Region of Irrigation Australia (IAL) and the Water Corporation. The program aims to optimise the water-use efficiency of domestic watering systems installed in Western Australia.
Painters
- GreenPainters Accredited Course™ in Sustainable Painting
Developed by GreenPainters and Holmesglen TAFE for Sustainability Victoria, this is the first accredited Course in Sustainable Painting Practices. This course is available for all painting contractors. Take the first step to become an Accredited GreenPainter. The Course updates painters on the regulations, products, work practices and marketing techniques for environmental management, including zero-VOC products, natural paints, heat reflective coatings and EPA compliance.
- GreenPainters Cool Coating Course™
Understand how to use new paint and coating technology to increase building energy efficiency and cut carbon emissions. Learn how you can make a difference to climate change! Licensed or qualified painters only. Includes Worksafe regulations and practical skills.
- GreenPainters Green Star Course™
Designed for licensed, qualified or registered painting contractors working on Green Star projects, the course updates painters on the regulations, products, work practices, practical skills and marketing techniques essential to work on Green Star projects.
- GreenPainters Natural Painting Course™
Get practical training on the latest trend in sustainable painting. Learn about natural paint ingredients and how they improve sustainability. Designed for professional painters and DIYs. Includes practical skills and theory.
Plumbers
GreenPlumber Training & Accreditation
MPMSAA provides the nationally accredited Course in Green Plumbers Environmental Solutions (21596VIC) for licensed/registered plumbers.

- Sustainable Plumbing Practices Course
This course has been designed to assist Plumbing Contractors and their Supervisors and Staff become aware of the legislative and other requirements involved in Sustainability such as Rainwater Tank Installation, Grey Water and Black Water Systems, Solar Heating, Recycled Water and alternative sources of water.
- Sustainable Alternative Rainwater Tank Course
This course was developed in 2006 for the plumbing industry. To date over 1500 plumbers have attended the course. This course one of the underpinning course to Sustainable Plumbing Practices and EnviroplumberTM Accreditation and is an in depth course into the requirements and methodologies for installing rainwater Tanks.
